A very poor mining region, in the South of Belgium, the Borinage, really attracts Vincent. "People living underground". That drawing of a cafe "le charbon rouge" (the red coal) and of a warehouse of coals and cokes... shows his concerns. He was impatiently waiting for the permission to go preaching in the Borinage.
